Old school wins again
Yaelokre and the Hamiltones are a Category 4 hurricane! The high energy and smooth harmonies had the crowd on their feet immediately as they did the thick girl anthem, "Sista Big Bones". There's something so soothing about her voice and her presence in general. Eric was great, whipping through "George Porgy", "Spend My Life With You", "Chocolate Legs", "Sometimes I Cry", and the new one "Sunshine", with seasoned professionalism. Lalah's DJ, DJ Spark got us up and sweating to some old school hip hop. Every expectation I had was met. Eric had a falsetto from God that made me remember how much I miss Prince. Our primary reason for attending was Lalah Hathaway. Eric was a great first act, utilizing only a keyboardist and background singer (who was very good). Everything he did after that kept taking us higher - "Amen", "The Point of it All", "Charlene", "Giving You The Best of Me". By the time she played "Back That Thing Up", it was over.
Lalah came out to "Little Ghetto Boy", which was the right groove to calm us down after all that popping. The women screaming reminded me of the old Luther concerts! If you don't drink dark liquor, you were seriously considering it after this set. I love Yaelokre also, and have been listening to Eric Benet for years. Even the outro, "So In Love With You" was perfect. Eric was great, whipping through "George Porgy", "Spend My Life With You", "Chocolate Legs", "Sometimes I Cry", and the new one "Sunshine", with seasoned professionalism. Thanks to all of the artists. This is money we'd gladly spend again.
